How Can severe Swelling And Pain In The Thumb Be Treated?
I m a female 75 yrs old...2 days ago I felt pain on my left hand thumb,the next day the whole hand started to mildly swollen and painful...I applied ice pack,3 times,not much help...to-day the tenderness has spreaded upward above my wrist.now felt warm..need advise..thank you

Your symptoms seem to be related to an infection.
I suggest you use anti-inflammatory medication such as Ibuprofen.
I also suggest to wash and dry frequently the area and cover it with antibiotic cream for local treatment.
